Microsoft’s Clipchamp Video Editor Introduces New Audio Recording and Editing Features

has expanded the capabilities of , its easy-to-use video editing software, with several new audio features as announced in its Office Insider blog. Users can now record audio directly within the application and edit it on the app's timeline, enhancing the multimedia editing experience for Clipchamp users globally. This update signifies Microsoft's ongoing commitment to integrate user-friendly multimedia tools into its suite of productivity applications.

Enhanced Text-to-Speech and Silent Removal Preview

Clipchamp now boasts substantial improvements to its functionality, allowing users more control over the narrations they add to their videos. The update lets individuals adjust the language, voice, emotion, and pitch of the text-to-speech tracks and edit the script directly from the properties panel. Additionally, Microsoft is gearing up to introduce a ‘silent removal' feature that will detect and eliminate prolonged silence in audio tracks automatically.

Clipchamp, which Microsoft acquired in September 2021, is a web-based video creation and editing tool that offers a range of features, such as templates, filters, transitions, text, audio, and animations. Users can also upload their own media files or use stock footage from ‘s library.

The app has since become the main video editing tool on Windows 11, according to Microsoft. The company revealed last September that it has updated the  Photos app and removed the video editing tools from it.

Availability and Premium Subscription Benefits

The added audio recording feature is available to all Personal account users of Clipchamp, while the improved text-to-speech options have started rolling out to commercial accounts as well. A Clipchamp Premium subscription, priced at $11.99 monthly or $119.99 annually, offers additional benefits such as 4K video resolution support, access to premium stock images, videos, and audios, along with a wider selection of filters, effects, and backup features. The silent removal tool is set to join the array of features exclusive to Clipchamp Premium subscribers, following its public preview slated for release later in February.

In December, Microsoft brought more AI capabilities to Clipchamp. A new feature called ‘Auto compose' leverages artificial intelligence to greatly simplify the video creation process. Furthermore, ‘s latest content library tab provides users with an extensive array of stock content. Microsoft has also rolled out a significant update for personal accounts on Clipchamp.
