has unveiled a suite of certification programs designed for IT professionals looking to bolster their resumes and validate their skills. The programs now available to the public include the GitHub Foundations Certification, GitHub Actions Certification, GitHub Advanced Security Certification, and GitHub Administration Certification.

Certifications Aim to Increase Career Prospects

The new certifications from GitHub aim to provide tech professionals with the credentials needed to advance their careers. According to GitHub, certifications can “unlock a world of opportunities,” increasing productivity, potential salary, and driving innovation within organizations. For employers, the certifications serve as tangible verification of the employees' skills during the hiring process.

Preparation and Costs for Certification Exams

Those interested in the certifications can expect to pay $200 USD per exam. If a candidate does not pass, a retake would also cost $200. To support exam preparation, GitHub has released a Candidate Handbook and study guides specific to each certification. Prospective exam-takers should review these materials thoroughly to avoid coming unprepared and risking the exam fees. The certifications, once exclusive to GitHub employees and partners, are now open to anyone wishing to apply. Successful completion of an exam will result in a digital Credly badge and certificate to showcase the individual's certified skills.

Candidates looking to add these certifications to their professional toolkit can register through GitHub's registration page. Despite initial messaging intended for employees and partners, updates to the page will reflect the broader availability to all interested individuals.
