Ahead of CES 2024 next month, LG has a new home AI agent that navigates, talks, and controls your smart home.

LG Electronics has unveiled an intelligent AI agent set to revolutionize smart homes with its advanced capabilities. Ahead of CES 2024, set to kick off on January 9, the company has disclosed details about its new product designed to integrate seamlessly into the home environment. This robotic AI agent is a central part of LG's ambition to create a “Zero Labor Home,” offering users a new level of interaction with their living spaces.

Advanced Robotic Features

Equipped with a unique two-legged wheel design, the AI agent boasts the ability to independently navigate spaces while demonstrating multi-modal technology for verbal interaction. It can express emotions through a series of gestures and movements made possible by its articulated leg joints. LG's approach to also extends to the AI agent's ability to recognize voices and images and process natural language, enhancing its ability to understand and respond to user interactions within the context of the conversation.

Lyu Jae-Cheol, President of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, has expressed the company's dedication to integrating state-of-the-art autonomous mobility and AI with advanced communication capabilities. He emphasizes that LG is committed to helping customers enjoy a “smarter, more enjoyable life at home” by alleviating the burden of household chores.

Smart Home Connectivity and Environmental Monitoring

Notably, the smart home agent is capable of connecting with various smart home devices and IoT technologies, offering users comprehensive control and monitoring options. The use of the Qualcomm Robotics RB5 Platform ensures that the device is equipped with advanced user and face recognition technology, further enhancing the personalized experience for users.

The robot is also an adept environmental monitor, armed with sensors to detect real-time data such as temperature, humidity, and indoor air quality. It utilizes AI to analyze this information, merging it with external data to manage home environments proactively. For pet owners, the agent can even remotely monitor pets and alert owners to any irregular activities it detects.

For security and energy management, the AI agent serves as a vigilant overseer, capable of roaming freely to identify potential issues such as open windows or unused devices left on. It can also connect to smart outlets, enabling automatic shut-off to conserve energy.

Information services, including weather updates and transportation advice, round out the robot's comprehensive feature set. LG is poised to demonstrate the full capabilities of its AI agent at CES 2024, offering a glimpse into the future of smart home technology and how AI can transform daily living.
