Microsoft Viva Engage Debuts as a Workplace Social Network

Microsoft Viva Engage is a workplace social media network with groups, posts, sharing, Communities, and stories.

At Microsoft Inspire 2022, the company is launching a new expansion to the Microsoft Viva platform. The new service aims to increase relationships across an organisation, known as Microsoft Viva Engage.

In simplest terms, Microsoft Viva Engage is a workplace social media platform that allows employees to interact. It is similar to Facebook, allowing users to create posts and content, while others can react and offer comments.

There is also a Communities feature that allows smaller groups to host a private place to work on projects or just interact. Microsoft points out that these Communities can be anything, so do not need to be just about working on projects.

Stories are a major part of social media these days, and Microsoft is bringing them to the workplace. On Viva Engage, they will be at the top of page and is known as Storyline. Here you can see the popular posts from the network.

Available Now

Microsoft Viva Engage is making its debut today, available to people with the Yammer Communities app. It is also available to admins through the Teams Admin Center. It is possible to pin Viva Engage to the sidebar on Teams on the web and desktop.

If you are unfamiliar with Microsoft Viva, it is a new employee experience platform comprised of several components. Microsoft 365 underpins the Viva experience, which aims to provide a suite of tools across learning, resources, insights, knowledge, and communications.

Tip of the day: It’s a good idea to backup your computer on a regular basis, and the most fool-proof way is to manually create a disk image and save it to an external hard drive.
