How to create the official Windows 10 RTM ISO from Windows Update ESD files

-

Microsoft is distributing Windows 10 via its Windows Update service as downloadable ESD files. Here is how you convert those ESD files into ISO format which serve to install Windows 10 from DVD or USB-Drives.

Microsoft is offering Windows 10 as a free upgrade for users of Windows 7, Windows 8, RT or 8.1 and has pushed out the final Windows 10 RTM build already to preview testers. But you can download the Windows 10 update directly as an ESD file and convert it to ISO format. Here is our simple five step tutorial.

Alternatively you can get your hands on ISO images created by other users. Be aware however, that those ISO images might be corrupt or infected with malware. It is very recommended to create the Windows 10 RTM ISO from the official Windows Update ESD files.
