Solos has unveiled the AirGo Vision, a new contender in the smart glasses market combining leading artificial intelligence (AI) models with a modular, privacy-focused design.

Priced at $299, the AirGo Vision features OpenAI’s GPT-4o, aiming to redefine how users interact with wearable technology. This launch represents a key moment in Solos’ push to differentiate itself from major competitors like Meta and Baidu while capitalizing on the growing demand for user-centric smart wearables.

AI-Driven Features Define the AirGo Vision

At the core of the AirGo Vision is OpenAI’s GPT-4o, which enables the glasses to perform tasks such as real-time object recognition, interactive question-and-answer exchanges, and language translation.

By integrating a built-in camera, the device allows users to interact naturally with their surroundings. For instance, users can ask questions like “What am I looking at?” or “Translate this text into English,” and receive instant, contextually relevant answers.

This feature exemplifies how AI enhances everyday convenience, especially for tasks involving travel, language barriers, or rapid information retrieval.

Solos’ commitment to future-proofing its product is evident through its open-architecture design, which supports additional AI platforms like Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude.

Google Gemini, also offering ability to process multimodal data—including text, images, and video—will soon be integrated, expanding the glasses’ capabilities.

Similarly, Anthropic Claude focuses on ethical and context-aware AI interactions, aligning with Solos’ mission to offer versatile and responsible technology.

According to Solos, “AirGo Vision’s unique open-architecture design supports popular AI frameworks like Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini, ensuring compatibility across all major mobile platforms, making smart glasses and AI capabilities universally accessible to all consumers.”

The AirGo Vision is designed for all-day wear, weighing just 42 grams and offering a battery capable of over 2,500 AI interactions or image captures on a single charge. An “always-on” mode enhances usability by allowing continuous AI access without requiring the companion app to remain open.

These features ensure the glasses integrate seamlessly into users’ daily routines, whether for professional, personal, or recreational purposes.

One standout feature is SolosTranslate, which provides real-time translation for both audio and text. By leveraging the glasses’ camera, users can translate menus, signs, or spoken language in foreign settings, making the AirGo Vision a practical tool for travelers and multilingual environments.

Powered by the Ernie language model, Baidu’s glasses include calorie estimation, object recognition, and location-based guidance. With a weight of just 45 grams and a 16MP ultra-wide camera, they aim to provide functionality without sacrificing comfort. These features position Baidu as a strong competitor in the Asian and global markets, with pricing under ¥2,100 (~$290) further enhancing their appeal.

Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, a dominant player in the Western market, emphasize social connectivity through direct platform integration.

However, privacy concerns have plagued Meta’s devices, especially after demonstrations revealed how they could expose personal data using facial recognition.

Recent developments, such as Microsoft’s decision to halt production of its HoloLens headset, highlight the challenges facing AR hardware adoption.

Microsoft has redirected its focus toward AI infrastructure, signaling a pivot that aligns with Solos’ strategy of embedding AI into practical, user-friendly devices. And, after the initial hype about Apple’s Vision Pro headset has evaporated, the company has slowed down its investments on the expensive goggles, now also eyeing lightweight smart glasses.

The AirGo Vision is available in two frame styles, Krypton 1 and Krypton 2, with seven color options. Customers can purchase the glasses starting at $299, with a non-camera frame available for $149 and a bundle offering both configurations at $349. Prescription lenses are also supported, catering to a broader range of users.
