OpenAI and Anduril Industries have announced a partnership to incorporate advanced artificial intelligence into counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS), marking OpenAI’s most direct engagement in defense technology to date.
The collaboration aims to support the U.S. military’s ability to detect and neutralize aerial threats posed by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The partnership combines OpenAI’s machine learning expertise with Anduril’s autonomous systems, including its Lattice platform, which integrates real-time data streams for rapid threat analysis.
Emphasizing the importance of responsible AI deployment, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated: “Our partnership with Anduril will help ensure OpenAI technology protects U.S. military personnel and will help the national security community understand and responsibly use this technology to keep our citizens safe and free.”
