Microsoft Copilot Adds Scheduled Prompts for Workflow Automation

Users now can simply schedule repetitive tasks and allow Copilot to execute these commands on their behalf.

Microsoft has expanded its AI Copilot with the addition of a feature called “Scheduled Prompts,” designed to make recurring tasks easier for enterprise users. Now, Copilot can automatically run prompts at specific times without needing users to manually trigger them, meaning frequent actions like reviewing emails or creating summaries can be done without lifting a finger.

Instead of manually repeating the same tasks, users can simply schedule them and allow Copilot to execute these commands on their behalf. The responses are saved within Copilot’s chat history, and any new automated actions will appear highlighted in bold for quick reference. This feature adds more convenience, especially for professionals who juggle multiple tasks each day.

How to Set Up Scheduled Prompts

Scheduling a prompt is straightforward. After running a prompt to ensure it provides the correct response, you can set it to run automatically. To do this, hover over the prompt, and you’ll see an icon labeled “Schedule this prompt.” Clicking it brings up a setup window where you can choose how often the task should run and at what time.

Users can define specifics, like setting the task to repeat up to five times. There’s also an option to add reminders to restart any scheduled prompts that might need it after completing their run. It’s a flexible tool that lets users have more control over how their tasks get managed.

Managing Your Scheduled Tasks

If the setup for a scheduled prompt needs adjusting, there’s no need to delete and recreate it. Users can change their preferences by accessing the “Scheduled prompts” menu, found by clicking the ellipses in the top-right of Copilot’s page. From there, any aspect of the schedule can be altered as necessary, making it simple to adapt to changing priorities or time-sensitive workflows.

This ability to fine-tune or modify already set schedules enhances the utility of this feature. Users who have multiple tasks can rest assured that even if plans change, their scheduled prompts can be altered with ease to suit their new needs.

More Productivity for Large Enterprises

With Scheduled Prompts, Microsoft addresses the growing need for more automation in the workplace. It’s particularly helpful for professionals managing numerous responsibilities that require repeated actions—such as sending out reports, following up on meetings, or summarizing daily updates. Copilot takes over these tasks, giving users more space to focus on higher-value work.

The new feature fits well into large corporate environments where routine processes are a regular part of operations. By automating these, companies could potentially save considerable time and ensure critical tasks don’t slip through the cracks.

Improving Collaboration and Communication

Scheduled Prompts also improve team communication by automating updates at key times. For example, regular status updates on projects or reminders about upcoming deadlines can be set up once and run at intervals, removing the need for manual follow-ups. Managers and team members alike benefit from having critical information available without needing to request it actively. It’s one more way that Copilot integrates into everyday workflows, making collaboration smoother.
