Google has rolled out a new update for its Pixel products, bringing more useful features across phones, tablets, and watches. The latest “Pixel Drop” includes improved AI assistance, better camera options, and some extra security tools, giving users more control over their devices without needing to wait for major system upgrades.
Gemini AI Expands To More Devices and Languages
Googles voice assistant based on Gemini AI can now be accessed hands-free, making life a bit easier if you have any model of Pixel Buds—just say “Hey Google” and start talking. With German and Portuguese support now added, more people can use it. Users can ask for directions, quickly check emails, or even bounce ideas off Gemini, making it more flexible than before. Plus, a new feature lets Gemini help find things in your screenshots by voice command, like that pair of sneakers you saved last week.
Cleaner Video Sound With Audio Magic Eraser
Pixel 8 owners can now make video audio a lot more bearable, thanks to Audio Magic Eraser. It helps get rid of annoying background noises, such as wind or crowds, and lets you tweak specific sounds. The feature is focused on making the audio cleaner without having to do a ton of manual editing. This is great for users who take a lot of videos but don’t want to deal with the noise pollution that usually comes with it.
Underwater Photos and Astrophotography Get a Boost
The new update also brings underwater photography enhancements. Whether you’re using a waterproof case to snap pictures while snorkeling or just shooting some poolside moments, the improved color accuracy and detail will make your photos look much better.
Additionally, those into stargazing will appreciate the updated Astrophotography mode, which is now easier to access within the Night Sight settings. It’s designed for clearer and more detailed night sky shots, and can be activated with just a tap. There’s also now a Night Sight option within Instagram, meaning you won’t need a flash to take crisp low-light photos directly from the app.
Pixel Watch Gets Easier Communication Tools
For those using Pixel Watch, Google added a new tile feature that makes it quicker to contact your most frequent people. One tap, and you can either message or call a contact straight from your watch face. This update also brings the ability to react to emails with emoji right from the watch, so you can send a thumbs-up or a smiley face without pulling out your phone.
Expanded Safety Tools and Privacy Features
The latest Pixel update isn’t just about AI and photography. Google has expanded its safety tools, particularly with Theft Detection Lock, which uses AI to determine if your phone has been stolen. If someone snatches it and starts moving quickly, the phone locks down automatically. You can even use another device to lock it remotely, giving you a bit of extra time to secure your accounts. Meanwhile, the introduction of private app spaces adds a layer of privacy, letting you hide apps behind a separate PIN, keeping sensitive information away from prying eyes.
Pixel Tablet Gains Better Media Syncing
For Pixel Tablet owners, the update simplifies media transfers between your tablet and phone. A new casting feature allows users to easily move audio or video content like Spotify or YouTube from one device to another without pressing extra buttons. Just bring your phone near your tablet, and the media seamlessly switches over. Also, dismissed notifications on one device now vanish from your other Pixel devices, making notifications a little less overwhelming.
