Enhanced Draft Refinement Options
In a blog post, Google detailed the new capabilities of Gemini in Gmail. Direct shortcuts are now accessible in the email body on both Android and iOS devices. For new emails, an empty draft includes a “Help me write” shortcut that allows Gemini to generate text. With drafts of 12 words or more, a “Refine my draft” option appears, offering choices like “Polish,” “Formalize,” “Elaborate,” and “Shorten.” Users can also opt for Gemini to create an entirely new draft.
These new shortcuts aim to simplify access, embedded directly in the email body for convenience. Swiping on the “Refine my draft” shortcut reveals various options, and if the shortcut is not visible, tapping the pencil icon unlocks the same features. The changes are designed to expedite the drafting process, helping users craft polished emails more efficiently.
Subscription Requirements and Availability
The enhanced tools are exclusive to Google One AI Premium subscribers and users with the Gemini add-on for Workspace. The update aligns with Google's broader effort to integrate AI into productivity tools, improving overall user experience and efficiency.
