Microsoft Expands Viva Connections with OneDrive and Playlist Cards

Microsoft has introduced three new cards to Viva Connections in Microsoft 365: OneDrive, Quick Links, and Playlist.

has rolled out three new cards for its Viva Connections platform aimed at enhancing ease of access and optimizing workflows. The latest additions are the OneDrive, Quick Links, and Playlist cards, all integrated into the Viva Connections dashboard within Microsoft Teams.

OneDrive Card: Streamlined File Access

The OneDrive card facilitates access to users' recent, shared, and favorite files without any need for administrative configuration. Users can open these files in their respective applications on desktop, tablet, or mobile devices. The feature is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 388496.

Designed for quick access to vital links, the Quick Links card can be configured by Viva Connections administrators according to roles or organizational goals. It proves especially useful for frontline employees requiring prompt access to essential links via their smartphones. Administrators can tailor this card for different departments to ensure pertinent resources are easily accessible. This feature corresponds to Roadmap ID 402189.

Playlist Card: Curated Video Lists

The Playlist card enables the display of a predefined list of , ideal for activities such as onboarding new employees. The card can also support other uses such as security audits, event notifications, or troubleshooting guidance. Configurable by administrators, this feature is linked to Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 402190.

The new cards will be gradually introduced over the summer and autumn of 2024. Administrators need not take any preemptive actions as the cards will automatically integrate into the Viva Connections dashboard upon release.

Enhanced Employee Experience

Viva Connections, a company-branded employee experience platform, consolidates news, conversations, and resources within Microsoft Teams. Leveraging capabilities from Microsoft 365 like SharePoint, Teams, and Microsoft Entra, Viva Connections aims to offer an integrated user experience.

The updated interface features a distinctive ‘Hero' section, designed to prominently display company news to employees, fostering a more informed and engaged workforce.
