Roblox's ban stems from allegations regarding inappropriate sexual content, with authorities claiming it takes advantage of children. Consequently, the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation leading to the ban across the country.

On August 2, 2024, Turkey's BTK announced a block on Instagram, impacting 57.1 million users. This restriction, expected to be solidified by a court order within 24 to 48 hours, was reportedly due to Instagram's limit on posts about Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas leader, following his purported assassination. Fahrettin Altun from the Directorate of Communications called Instagram's actions an assault on freedom of expression and justice. Effect on Roblox Community and Creators

The Roblox ban has wide-reaching consequences for its users and in Turkey. The platform, criticized for insufficient safeguards against mature content and exploiting young game designers, has left many Turkish creators worried about accessing their earnings. Roblox isn't the first gaming platform Turkey has banned. In February 2024, streaming services Kick and Twitch were blocked over controversies involving gambling streams. This is part of a broader pattern of the government increasing its control over online content and platforms.
