AltStore PAL has broadened its app offerings, introducing torrent clients and other third-party applications to iPhone users in the European Union. This development, coming just three months after AltStore PAL’s EU debut, offers enhanced app availability outside of the Apple official App Store.
New App Offerings on AltStore PAL
Among the latest additions are iTorrent, an iOS torrent client, and qBitControl, a remote client for managing qBittorrent software. These apps enable users to handle torrent files directly on their iPhones and iPads without jailbreaking requirements. Also included in this expanded selection are PeopleDrop, a social discovery and dating app, and UTM SE, an emulator for running operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and macOS on iOS devices. Notably, UTM SE is the only app in this selection that is available in Apple’s official App Store; the remaining apps are exclusive to AltStore PAL.

Apple’s Restrictions and Policy Shifts
Torrenting apps have traditionally been banned from Apple’s platform due to copyright concerns. However, the introduction of the EU’s Digital Markets Act has curtailed Apple’s control over app distribution in the region. This legislation aims to foster competition by enabling users to install apps from alternative sources, thereby reducing the dominance of major tech companies.
With the Digital Markets Act, consumer choice and app variety have expanded. Apple now has to provide APIs that allow app distribution outside of its App Store. This shift has enabled the rise of alternative marketplaces like AltStore PAL, offering applications that were previously restricted.
AltStore has independently verified the safety of these initial apps. Users can access these applications by adding them via the “Sources” screen, making them available in the “Browse” tab for easy installation. AltStore PAL’s ability to offer apps like iTorrent and qBitControl signifies a significant change in the iOS app environment within the EU.
