FinVolution Group announces the launch of the 2024 FinVolution Global Data Science Competition, offering a prize pool of US$42,000. This marks the ninth international science and technology competition hosted by FinVolution, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to advancing science, technology, industry, academia, and research on a global scale.
2024 Competition Theme: Deepfake Speech Detection Challenge
As speech synthesis technology continues to evolve, the distinction between synthesized and authentic voices becomes increasingly blurred, presenting not only a threat to data security but also raising novel demands for scientific ethics.
The 9th FinVolution Global Data Science Competition, centered on Deepfake Speech Detection, aims to stimulate the innovative potential of algorithm enthusiasts and experts worldwide, and collectively address the challenges brought by the development of artificial intelligence technology.
Competitors are encouraged to utilize advanced algorithm techniques, including deep learning, to develop algorithms capable of accurately identifying authentic and fake voices. Together, we aim to drive progress in this field and ensure that technological advancements serve society better, achieving a harmonious coexistence of technology and ethics.

The competition itself will unfold in three stages:
Preliminary round: Beijing time 2024/05/10 00:00:00-06/12 23:59:59
Semi-finals: Beijing time 2024/06/13 00:00:00-06/28 23:59:59
Finals: Beijing time 2024/06/29 00:00:00-late July 2024 (the final date will be notified separately)
Award Ceremony: Beijing time 2024/early August IJCAI’24 Jeju Island, South Korea
Tournament Bonus
A total prize pool of CNY 310,000 (~US$42,000) will be distributed among winners in a single track, Here’s how the bounty breaks down:
– Champion: CNY 100,000 (1 team)
– Runner-up: CNY 60,000 (~$8,200) each (2 teams)
– Second Runner-up: CNY 30,000 (~$4,100) each (2 teams)
– Global Top 8: CNY 10,000 (~$1,300) each (3 teams)
– Rising Star Award: 3 teams
Beyond the Prize Money
