AMD Unveils Ryzen 8000 pro Series as Microsoft Reveals Pluton Integration

AMD's new Ryzen 8000 PRO processors bring AI power and Microsoft's Pluton security to business PCs

-

AMD has officially announced the introduction of its Ryzen 8000 PRO series processors for commercial PCs. This announcement includes both mobile and desktop variants, designed to cater to the needs of business professionals. The new processors are notable for their integration of advanced AI capabilities and the inclusion of Microsoft’s Pluton security processor.

Enhanced Security and Performance

The Ryzen 8000 PRO series processors come equipped with the Microsoft Pluton security processor, marking a significant advancement in chip-level security. Designed by Microsoft, Pluton aims to provide superior protection compared to traditional TPM (Trusted Platform Module) solutions, which are susceptible to bus interface sniffing attacks. This integration ensures that user credentials, identities, personal data, and encryption keys on Windows 11 PCs are safeguarded from chip to cloud.

In addition to security enhancements, these processors boast improved AI performance, thanks to dedicated AI accelerators known as NPUs (Neural Processing Units). These NPUs have been a part of AMD’s processors since the Ryzen 7000 mobile series, and they enable the new Ryzen PRO processors to deliver more trillions of operations per second (TOPS) than their predecessors. Microsoft has also indicated that the Windows Task Manager will soon be able to monitor and report NPU usage, further enhancing the user experience.

Modern Connectivity and Deployment Efficiency

The Ryzen 8000 PRO series supports the latest in connectivity technologies, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and DDR5. This ensures that devices powered by these processors are equipped for the fastest and most reliable connections available, which is crucial for modern business environments.

Microsoft highlights the efficiency of deploying devices equipped with these processors, claiming up to 41% faster device deployment performance. This improvement is attributed to AMD PRO technologies, which facilitate device management at scale with cloud-based tools like Windows Autopilot.

Comprehensive Lineup for Diverse Needs

The Ryzen PRO lineup includes a range of processors tailored for both mobile and desktop applications. AMD’s OEM partners are expected to release new laptops and desktops featuring these processors, providing business professionals with a variety of options to meet their computing needs.
