Microsoft Xbox has partnered with InWorld AI to introduce a new generative AI toolkit aimed at game development. The collaboration is set to unveil tools that could significantly aid game studios in crafting more intricate game designs, narratives, and characters.
Empowering Creativity with AI
The partnership, which is projected to span multiple years, will focus on developing a ‘Copilot' for game development. The AI-driven assistant is designed to help game studios develop games at an unprecedented speed. According to the official announcement, the Copilot will provide a multi-platform AI toolset that is accessible and responsibly designed to assist creators with dialogue, story, and quest design. Haiyan Zhang, General Manager of Gaming AI at Xbox, emphasized the goal of making it easier for developers to “realize their visions, try new things, push the boundaries of gaming today, and experiment to improve gameplay, player connection, and more.”
Innovative AI Tools for Game Design
The partnership will leverage InWorld's expertise in AI tools for game creation and Microsoft's cloud-based AI solutions, including Azure OpenAI Services. The collaboration aims to produce a Copilot capable of assisting game designers by converting prompts into detailed scripts, dialogue trees, quests, and more. Additionally, an AI character runtime engine is in the works, which promises to enable new narratives with dynamically generated stories, quests, and dialogue, enhancing the player's experience.
The closed beta for the game development Copilot is already underway, with more details expected to be shared at the G-Star Korea event on November 17. This initiative marks a significant step in the use of AI in game development, potentially transforming the way games are produced and experienced.
