Enterprise work management platform Asana has announced the addition of a wide array of AI features to its offering. These advanced features are designed to enhance organizational efficiency and business outcomes. They will leverage the company’s proprietary Work Graph, which captures the relationship between a team’s tasks, the information about those tasks, and the individuals performing the tasks. According to Dustin Moskovitz, Asana’s CEO, the company integrates AI and human innovation to offer leaders real-time insights on work performance within their organizations, adding that this would aid more effective and efficient work practices.
AI Features Introduced Aim to Maximize Impact
Asana is adding three productivity-centered generative AI features: smart fields, smart editor, and smart summaries. Smart fields will automatically generate custom fields to improve project organization for cross-functional collaboration. The smart editor feature will generate draft notes matching set tones, while smart summaries will produce task descriptions highlights, comments, and key action items.
Asana has also noted that smart summaries will be capable of generating summaries and action items from video call transcripts, facilitating quicker team operations. Once these features are implemented, the solutions will be extended to include smart workflows, natural inputs language auto-optimized workflows, and a ‘smart digest’ tracking project updates and changes over time.
AI Features for Enhanced Accountability and Clarity
Asana also plans to introduce AI features to boost team accountability. This will commence with the launch of a smart status tool, which will utilize real-time work data to produce comprehensive status updates for ongoing projects, highlighting potential roadblocks and unresolved issues. This tool is expected to foster transparency and efficient goal achievement.
Additionally, Asana will use the same technology that powers smart status to provide smart answers to natural language questions about specific projects. The enterprise plans to pair this with a wider ‘smart search’ feature, which allows users to search the entire Work Graph in natural language to find information on different projects. Lastly, the company disclosed plans to launch AI-driven tools to generate goals for teams, plan for different scenarios, and monitor and adjust team resourcing – based on different parameters.
Emerging AI trends in the Enterprise Work Management Space
The move by Asana to bolster its platform with AI features underscores the company’s intensified focus on AI, reflecting a trend apparent across enterprise technologies. Competitors are also recognizing the potential of AI in simplifying work management. For instance, Monday.com has begun to roll out Monday AI apps that cater to use-cases such as project plan creation, email composition, and summarizing complex topics. Slack has entered the work management arena with its Lists feature, which could easily be expanded to boost work productivity.
