Anthropic has introduced a paid plan for its AI chatbot, Claude 2, named Claude Pro. Available in the US and the UK, the subscription is priced similarly to OpenAI’s ChatGPT subscription plan, ChatGPT Plus.
Claude Pro Features and Offerings
The Claude Pro subscription provides subscribers with more usage than the free tier of Claude 2. Subscribers can send a significantly higher number of messages, enjoy priority access during peak traffic times, and receive early access to upcoming features. Anthropic’s official announcement emphasized that users have selected Claude.ai as their primary AI assistant due to its extended context windows, rapid outputs, and advanced reasoning capabilities.
Comparison with ChatGPT
Claude Pro is poised to compete directly with ChatGPT Plus. While ChatGPT Plus offers a certain context of tokens, Claude Pro boasts a larger context, enabling a richer user experience and the capacity to manage longer and more intricate prompts.
Before launching the paid subscription model, Anthropic actively assessed market dynamics and user preferences. They conducted polls among users of their free service to determine their willingness to pay a monthly subscription fee, aiming to tailor their offerings to user expectations.
Company Background
Anthropic, co-founded by former OpenAI employees, has been a notable player in the AI industry. The company secured funding in a round led by Google. Since its inception, Claude.ai has emerged as a preferred AI assistant for many due to its unique features and capabilities.
Last month, Anthropic updated its entry-level large language model, known as Claude Instant, to version 1.2. Claude Instant 1.2 is a powerful model that can do many things like chatting, analyzing texts, summarizing documents, and understanding what they mean. It can take in up to 100,000 tokens of input, which is like hundreds of pages of content. It can also produce texts of up to a few thousand tokens in one shot, such as notes, letters, stories, and more.
Claude Instant 1.2 has some awesome features that make it stand out from other Claude models. One of them is that it does the best in an automated red-teaming test. This means that it is safer, more realistic, and harder to fool. Fooling is when someone tries to make the model say or do something bad or wrong.
Claude Instant 1.2 is also better than previous versions in coding and math. In a Python coding challenge called Codex HumanEval, Claude Instant 1.2 got 71.2%, which is much higher than 56.0% of the older version. In the GSM8K math problems for kids test, Claude Instant 1.2 got 88.0%, which is also higher than 85.2% of the previous version.
Claude 2 is similar to Claude Instant 1.2 but has more features and capabilities. For example, it can parse documents such as PDFs and give feedback or suggestions based on the content. It can also generate longer responses and better at coding than Claude Instant 1.2.
