Opera Releases Aria AI Assistant for Its iOS Web Browser

Aria is offering users intelligent insights, innovative ideas, and voice command responses.

Opera has added its Aria AI assistant to the iOS version of its web browser. The new feature, which has been developed in partnership with ChatGPT-maker OpenAI, ensures that Aria is now available on all major platforms, including Mac, Windows, Linux, Android, and iOS.

Aria AI Assistant Features and User Experience

Aria, Opera’s AI solution, has been integrated directly into the browser, is offering users intelligent insights, innovative ideas, and voice command responses. The AI tool, which has already surpassed 1 million users, is based on Opera’s “Composer” infrastructure and connects with OpenAI’s GPT API for large language models (LLM). This setup allows Aria to link with multiple AI models, with plans to expand its capabilities in search and AI services in the future.

Users have the choice to opt into the AI service, ensuring that the experience is not imposed on anyone. Those interested in utilizing Aria will need to log into their Opera account. If they don’t possess one, an account can be created via the app.

Aria’s Interface and Interaction

Opera’s iOS version features a chatbot-like interface for Aria, enabling users to pose questions and receive answers. This provides an alternative to traditional web searches. The AI can be accessed from the “more” menu in the Opera iOS app, and users have the option to voice their queries to Aria by tapping the microphone button.

Opera isn’t new to the world of AI. The company had earlier introduced AI Prompts, allowing users to initiate conversations with generative AI services for various tasks, such as shortening articles or generating tweets. Following the announcement of Aria’s 1 million user milestone, Opera co-CEO Lin Song mentioned, “As encouraging as the initial adoption of Aria has been, we are equally pleased with the quality of the users’ early engagement with the AI tool.”

Additional Features of Opera for iOS

Beyond Aria, Opera for iOS boasts a range of features. It offers built-in ad blocking, a free VPN, tracking prevention, a crypto wallet, and private browsing support. The browser is designed for on-the-go use, with its Fast Action Button providing easy access to navigation tools. Opera has also incorporated wallpaper customization functionality for a more personalized user experience.

Security and Accessibility

Opera emphasizes speed and security for its iOS users. Features such as a built-in ad blocker and the Apple Intelligent Tracking Prevention ensure a safe browsing experience. Additionally, the free built-in VPN service enhances user protection online. To access Aria, which is available in over 180 countries, users need to log in with their Opera account.
