Skype Version 8.93 Brings Major Update to Mobile and Desktop

Microsoft is moving Skype version 8.93 to full release with its ability to translate group video calls in a personal voice (TruVoice).

Microsoft is currently pushing out a new update to Skype across desktop and mobile platforms. This is a sizeable update that brings plenty of new features to the communication app. While the changelog differs from desktop to mobile, this update is rolling out unified as Skype version 8.93.

This is a stable channel version of an update I reported on back in December. You may remember that original preview release brought a new design and natural language (Personal Voice) translation to group video calls.

Microsoft says the app now supports real-time translation for video calls and the translation will use your personal voice (TruVoice). This means the person who hears the translation of you speaking will hear it in an AI version of your actual voice.

To do this, the software samples words you speak and tunes the translation response to sounds the same. Microsoft says the feature currently supports English, French, Chinese, German, Spanish, and other languages.

This latest version is available from Skype for the desktop from the official website, Skype for Android is available in the Google Play Store, and Skype for iPhone and iPad in the Apple App Store.

Tip of the day: If you need to Create, Delete or Resize Partitions, Windows has everything you thanks to the built-in Disk Management-tool.
