Microsoft is rolling out the newest Windows 11 Insider build to the Dev channel. In this latest release (build 25262), Microsoft is fixing a problem in Windows Search while also making changes to Widgets on the platform. However, the star of this show is an update to Windows 11 Media Player that adds a new feature.
Specifically, the new update will allow users to search through folders within the video library. This is coming to Insiders first before a wider rollout at a later date:
“Media Player Update
We are rolling out an update to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel for Media Player (version 11.2211.34.0 ) that brings the ability to browse through your video library by folder.
FEEDBACK: Please file feedback in Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Apps > Media Player.”
Windows 11 Media Player
Media Player is a new version of the classic app designed specifically for Windows 11. It comes with the following features:
- “A full-featured music library that allows you to quickly browse and play your music, as well as create and manage playlists.
- Media Player includes full support for browsing, managing, and watching your local video collection too!
- Watch and listen while you work on other things with the always-on-top mini player.
- The dedicated playback view features album art and rich artist imagery; these will appear in the full screen and mini player experiences as well.”
You can download the Media Player directly from the Microsoft Store here.
Tip of the day: With many reachable wireless access points popping up and disappearing again, the available networks list can become quite annoying. If needed you can use the allowed and blocked filter list of Windows to block certain WiFi networks or all unknown WiFi networks.
