Microsoft Endpoint Manager (MEM) is getting a bunch of new add-ons, with Microsoft describing them as “premium” additions. The company points out MEM is increasingly becoming a “single, cloud-powered solution” for enterprise customers.
In a blog post, Microsoft describes the new features, and that they will roll out during the remainder of this year. Leading the way is the new Remote Help tool, which is generally available immediately.
Remote Help gives Microsoft Endpoint Manager a new premium add-on, which means customers must pay more to access it. Microsoft says the tool brings a “secure” help service for the platform. IT pros and admins to fix issues on the move. Remote Help is currently available on Windows, but will come to MEM on Android during “a future release.”
“The integration with Endpoint Manager allows organizations to provide remote help to users with devices that are cloud-managed as well as co-managed from on-premises. It also provides role-based access control (RBAC), so administrators can control who can help whom and manage what helpers can do on the user's device during a connected session.
This integration also provides the ability to explicitly verify user and helpdesk support personnel identities and mitigates the risk of a breach by conducting device compliance checks—both capabilities help fortify a Zero Trust security model.”
Cost and Requirements
Customers who currently have a MEM subscription can add Remote Help for an extra $3.50 per user per month. However, there are requirements to fulfil to get it:
- “License for Microsoft Intune as part of Enterprise Mobility+ Security E3/5, Microsoft 365 E3/5, or F3/5 or standalone
- Add-on license for remote help for users and helpers
- Windows 10/11 including Windows 365 Cloud PC.
- The remote help app for Windows”
