Xbox-Preview-App-Windows

Windows 10 and Windows 11 users can start to use a new Xbox app version for the OS from today. Well, at least those on the Xbox Insider Program as the app is currently only available in preview. Remember, this is the Xbox/gaming specific program that is separate from the Windows Inside.

The Xbox app for Windows is updating to version 2203.1000.21.0, adding a new navigation system. Specifically, a new non-collapsible sidebar covering main Xbox sections: Game Pass, Cloud Gaming, My Library, Community, and Store.

The current app that all Windows 11 and 10 users see has these menu items next to the search bar at the top of the app screen.

In the new system, the main sections have available installed games and a Game Pass (another) button below the main items. Yes, Microsoft is really starting to push Game Pass. While the main section button will open Game Pass, the secondary smaller option shows available PC Game Pass titles.

More Changes

Elsewhere, the design/navigation tweaks also extend to the search field, which is now permanent. In other words, it no longer collapses, which means you can use the search function on any page within the Xbox app.

Lastly for the main changes in version 2203.1000.21.0, Microsoft has put the notification and profile icons on the left instead of the rights. Clicking the profile icon will open options for support, settings, feedback, home, and more.

The new version of the Xbox app is available to test on Windows 10 and Windows 11. You can grab it now by heading to the Microsoft Store and downloading the Xbox Insider Hub.

Tip of the day: Windows lets you use Cortana to translate sentences, words, or phrases, with the results read back to you automatically. This makes it particularly useful for group scenarios, but you can also type if you’re unsure about pronunciation. Cortana translation sports an impressive 40 languages and utilizes machine learning to provide natural results in many cases. Check our full guide to learn how to use Cortana for quick translations.
