Back in September, Microsoft rolled out the Surface Go 3, which was the most affordable Surface device until the Surface Laptop Go debuted in October. It seems Microsoft is now ready to freshen up the Surface Go 3 with a new black variant.
WinFuture discovered a leaked set of marketing images for the soon-to-launch device. However, Microsoft will not be rolling out the black Surface Go 3 in time for the holidays. Of course, we have seen Microsoft launch black variants of Surface devices before, but this is the first time for the Go series.
For example, the Surface Pro X, Surface Laptop 4, and Surface Duo all have a black variant. Until now, the Surface Go 3 has had one available color, Platinum. The report points to a January launch of the new product, but no details are available about which Go 3 configurations will get the black treatment.
If you are unfamiliar with the Surface Go 3, it is Microsoft’s most affordable Surface tablet and starts at $399. It runs an Intel Pentium Gold CPU coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage as standard.
Customers can configure up the device to the highest model with an Intel Core i3 processors, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB SSD storage. That top line variant costs $629.99. You can also add LTE to the device for an additional $100. Furthermore, Surface accessories like the Surface Pen and Type Cover are sold seperately.
If Microsoft is planning a black version, it should come at no extra cost as the regular versions.
