Microsoft Debuts MS Paint WindowsUglySweater for 2020 Holiday Season

Following a recent tradition, Microsoft has released a new WindowsUglySweater for the holidays, this time inspired by MS Paint.

In recent years, has been getting into the holiday spirit by launching an “ugly” sweater, which is a Christmas tradition in some countries. Sold under the branding #WindowsUglySweater, the company takes inspiration for its ugly knit sweaters from classic products. This year, Microsoft is showing off an MS Paint garment.

Right, I used the word ugly three times in the opening because that's how Microsoft describes this item. However – and I promise I am not being a contrarian – I think this is a nice-looking sweater.

Of course, I am not cool or oblivious enough to pull this sweater off, but still, I like it.

Customers can grab the WindowsUglySweater based on MS Paint on the Microsoft Store. It costs $69.99, which is expensive but $20 of each sale goes directly to Girls Who Code, a nonprofit focusing on helping women enter a career in computer science.

Availability

This year's MS Paint sweater joins those released in previous years. In 2018, Microsoft debuted a Windows 95 sweater and then in 2019 a sweater. The company played with the theme by packaging those sweaters in Windows 95/XP software boxes.

Considering MS Paint is baked into Windows, it's unclear what packaging the new WindowsUglySweater will get this year.

While all three sweater types are available, it seems the Windows 95 and Windows XP versions are sold out. They are available through December so I guess Microsoft will restock in the coming days or weeks.

They remain a solid purchase if you think they look cool, want an ugly holiday sweater, or want to help a good cause.
