Microsoft Enters Multiyear Cloud/Surface Partnership with GameStop

Gaming retailer GameStop will use Microsoft cloud services, including Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Teams, along with Surface devices.

has announced a major partnership with gaming retailer GameStop. No, this is not about the Xbox One X, Project xCloud, or any other front-end gaming product. Instead, GameStop will adopt Microsoft Azure cloud services to underpin its operations.

Furthermore, as part of a “multiyear strategic partnership,” the retailer will also use Microsoft Surface devices and tap into the productivity bundle.

In a press release, Microsoft says GameStop will adopt as the driver of its in-store and back-end platform. The company will access new Surface hardware to enhance in-store experiences and develop new retail tools for customers.

GameStop will also tap into Microsoft 365 and specifically . Over 30,000 store employees will have access to improved collaboration, the companies say.

“This will enable store associates the ability to access omni-channel insights about customer preferences and purchasing history, real time information on product availability, subscriptions, pricing, and promotions in order to provide a differentiated and personalized in-store customer experience,” GameStop says.
