Windows 10 May 2020 Update Launch Coming This Week as Microsoft Adds Release Information

Microsoft has updated its release information page for Windows 10 May 2020 Update, suggesting the update is coming soon.

-

It seems Microsoft will stick to its schedule to release the Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version 2004) this week. We have been expecting the update for months and May has been the scheduled launch. Microsoft has now published the Update release information and resolved issues pages for Windows 10 version 2004.

Earlier this month, Redmond updated its Driver Shiproom Schedule and set aside May 26, 27, and 28 for the release of its feature update. With the update of release information, it seems Windows 10 May 2020 is imminent and will almost certainly start shipping by the end of the week.

On the release information page, no known issues are reported, which suggests the platform is ready for launch. As for the resolved issues page, it shows what issues Microsoft has dealt with. It is currently empty, which is another indicator of a release.

As is usually the case with a major Windows 10 release, version 2004 won’t be available for everyone even if it launches this week. Microsoft will roll it out in stages. In fact, it is advisable to avoid the update for a while to allow it to stabilize and any bugs to be squashed.

Features

When you do installed Windows 10 May 2020 Update, you’ll receive a bunch of new tools. Included in the update is the full release of Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL 2), boasting a full Linux kernel.

Furthermore, the new Cortana app will be launched for all users, a new experience for Windows Search, Task Manager improvements, and Your Phone features are also bundled into version 2004. For a full break down of what to expect, check out our Windows 10 20H1 guide.

In recent weeks, Microsoft has been making last minute additions to the May 2020 Update. Earlier this week we discussed a feature for specialized displays. Last week, we reported on accessibility improvements coming to Windows 10 May 2020 Update.
