Microsoft Rewards now Gives Points on Windows Search

Microsoft Rewards members can gather points through Windows Search thanks to an update to the loyalty program.

Microsoft has announced an update to its Microsoft Rewards loyalty program. In a post, the company says people will now find it easier to pick up rewards. To allow this, Microsoft has integrated Bing Rewards directly into Windows Search.

This means when a program member conducts a web search from the Windows Search bar they will earn points. Of course, this will be one of the easiest ways to earn points on Microsoft Rewards.

Like other areas of the loyalty program, those points can be used on items on the Microsoft Store. For example, points can be redeemed to get movies, music, apps, games, and even hardware. Users can choose to use their points to make charitable donations.

Formerly known as Bing Rewards, the company transitioned the service to Microsoft Rewards in 2016. Previously the service allowed users to accumulate points through Bing Searches. Under the new platform, users could gain rewards for other things, such as browsing on Edge. Purchases on the Microsoft Store also gain points.

Microsoft Rewards users will now see a counter at the top of Windows Search that shows accumulated points. If you click the counter you can see your Rewards page and see how many points you have and what you can buy with them.

All Windows 10 users running version 1909 can now use this feature provided they are part of the rewards program.

It is worth noting Microsoft Rewards is not available in all regions. At the moment, the service can be used in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Republic of Ireland, Brazil, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Belgium, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Mexico and Taiwan.
