WhatsApp Could Bring Self-Destructing Messages to Individual Chats

WhatsApp seems to be working on bringing its tool for automatically deleting messages to individual chat feeds.

-

Back in November, was working on a feature that would allow messages to be automatically deleted. The self-destructing message tool was supposed to come to all users. However, the -owned company later restricted it to group chats only.

That seems to be changing as the WhatsApp beta application on Android shows the self-destructing message feature is coming to individual chats.

The disappearing message feature will allow users to set a timer on WhatsApp to decide how long a message remains visible in the chat. Once the time elapses the message is deleted.

Users have complete control over the feature and can choose to disable it. Options include setting the self-destruct to 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, and 1 year. This chosen length of time will determine how long WhatsApp keeps a message in a conversation.

When the time limit is chosen, the app displays a clock icon next to the sent time on a message. WhatsApp will also deliver a notification when the message is deleted.

It seems the company is currently testing the feature, but as WABetainfo reports, there is no timeframe for when it will fully launch.

No Longer on Windows Phone

Back in December, the WhatsApp application for 's Windows Phone was removed.

It has been inevitable as the company had not been supporting the app for some time. That means WhatsApp on Windows Phone had not been receiving updates and was not visible in the Microsoft Store. However, users with the app already installed had been able to continue using it.
