Microsoft Improves Flight Searches Through Bing

Microsoft Bing is now a more dedicated tool for searching for flights, making it easier to search for the cheapest flights.

Everyone knows that best way to find the cheapest flights is to shop around. However, hunting for the best prices can be time consuming, despite the availability of aggregate sites. has this week announced a new Bing search tool that aims to make flight booking more efficient.

To do so, the company has partnered with a number of flight booking aggregate websites. Bing is now able to curate flights in search results, making it easier to find the cheapest options from one location.

Bing taps into Global Distribution Systems to gain information from data in real time. Through access to major airlines and aggregate sites, the search engine can compare flights in a single place.

If you enter a search “flights from New York to Los Angeles” Bing will now present a list of flights and the price. When you select a flight, Bing offers a deeper look with more filtering options that allow you to narrow your search down.

“If you click on a flight option to learn more about it, you'll be taken to our comprehensive deep-dive page, which includes filtering options to allow you to quickly narrow the options down to the flight of your choice based on number of stops, airline, departure and arrival time, and price.”

Visual Search Improvements

Microsoft also said Bing is gaining improvements for its visual search abilities. Specifically, users will be able to access the feature from more places. If you're unfamiliar with Visual Search, it allows you to search using an image.

“We already have features that allow you to get visually-similar images from within Bing image results. Now, we've expanded and streamlined this capability so you can also use Bing visual search capabilities wherever you are, such as on third-party retailer site or in your own existing photos.”
