Microsoft Releases Windows 10 SDK and Windows Server Previews

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 SDK and Windows Server previews based on the Windows 10 20H1 18945 preview released last week.

Last week, rolled out Windows 10 Insider build 18945, the latest Insider release for the 20H1 branch. Following up with the update, Microsoft says the build is now coming to vNext alongside a new preview of the Windows 10 SDK.

Windows Server users on the Insider are now moving to build 18945, which brings a new feature. The server OS now has the ability to authenticate hybrid environments through FIDO2 security keys.

As for app developers leveraging the Windows 10 SDK, preview build 18945 adds the ability to sing apps with Device Guard Signing. This feature can be downloaded through the Microsoft Store for Windows Education and Businesses users.

Windows Server previews can be installed from the Windows Server Insider Preview download page. As for the Windows 10 SDK, it is available from Microsoft's Windows Insider website.

Windows 10 Build 18945

Both the Server and SDK are based on Windows 18945, which arrived in preview last week. Microsoft has brought its new Cortana beta experience to users. The company has recently been rolling out Cortana as an app that is independent from Windows 10 and available from the Microsoft Store.

The new Cortana provides a chat-based UI. Users can type or speak in natural language and receive replies from the assistant. The app also fits with the Windows 10 aesthetic by supporting both the dark and light themes. Microsoft says features will be added to the app through Store updates.
