Microsoft Teams to Arrive in Office 365 as Early as Next Week

Microsoft Teams will soon come automatically active in Office 365 Business and ProPlus as early as July 9 for some release channels.

-

is reported preparing to integrate completely into Office 365. Users of Office 365 Business and services will see Teams automatically active in the suite. Microsoft says the change could happen as soon as July 9.

In an announcement on Friday, the company said Microsoft Teams will be automatically activated on Office 365. However, admins can block the inclusion if they want. Microsoft has not said an exact date for Teams' arrival but did say it will be available for Office versions 1906 and later.

Over on Mac, users running version 16.21 of later will be able to choose from install packages that include Microsoft Teams and packages that don't. Why Microsoft opted for an automatic approach on Windows and a choice model on Mac is unclear. We guess admins would prefer the latter.

Microsoft published a document titles “Deploy Microsoft Teams with Office 365 ProPlus.” The company explains how the time of Teams' arrival will depend on the channel model the user is following. For example, some Office 365 users are on a monthly subscription channel, which means Teams could arrive next week (July 9). That's when Microsoft will release Office version 1906.

Availability

Users on the monthly targeted channel and organizations running Office 365 Business or ProPlus may have already received Teams.

If you're using Monthly Channel (Targeted), Teams will be added with an update to Version 1906 starting on approximately June 25, 2019.”

As for Office 365 users subscribed to the semiannual channel (targeted) that delivers updates twice a year are likely to receive Microsoft Teams around September 10. Finally, Office 365 Business of ProPlus users on the regular semiannual channel may have to wait longer. Teams may not arrive on their channel until 2020.
