Microsoft Launches Security Policy Advisor for Office 365 ProPlus

Security Policy Advisor for Office 365 ProPlus is available now in preview and offering comprehensive security help to organizations.

-

Microsoft has rolled out a new security service for Office 365 ProPlus users. Called Security Policy Advisor, the new tool is available in preview and is for enterprise users seeking improved protection. Microsoft says the service offers customers recommendations based on the company’s best practices.

Furthermore, Security Policy Advisor will provide information about the existing security infrastructure of an organization.

IT admins will have several tools within the Security Policy Advisor toolkit, including the ability to tailor recommendations. The service can also provide in-depth insights based on data gathered within Office 365 ProPlus.

The full capabilities of the solution include:

  • Tailored recommendations for specific security policies that can provide a high value in helping to raise the overall security posture of an enterprise and helping to protect against contemporary attacks.
  • Rich data insights on security and productivity impact of applying a policy recommendation that can help admins weigh the benefit vs. risk of applying a policy and make a data-informed decision.
  • One-click deployment of policies to end users through the recently released Office cloud policy service that enables admins to enforce Office policies straight from the cloud to any Office 365 ProPlus client without requiring on-premises infrastructure or MDM services.
  • Monitoring and reporting on policy impact that allows an admin to have visibility into how a security policy recommendation is affecting users without having to wait to hear from them.”

Requirements

Microsoft says there are some important requirements needed to use Security Policy Advisor. The most obvious is a subscription to Office 365 ProPlus, but users will need to be up to at least version 1904 of the suite (the latest update).

Other requirements include use of the Office cloud policy service and URLs and IP addresses that are configured on a network.
