Surface Go and All 2018 Surface Models Receive Driver and Firmware Updates

Microsoft has updated its 2018 Surface range, including the Surface Go with new Drivers and Firmware packages.

-

Microsoft has released a full list of new driver updates for its 2018 Surface devices, including the Surface Go. Some of the updates have been available since November, but this week the company released all drivers together. It is worth noting that the drivers are for all the Microsoft Surface devices launched in 2018.

If you are unfamiliar with those devices, they are the Surface Go, Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2, and Surface Studio 2. The Surface Book 2 was launched late in 2017 and so is not included in this roll out.

Below are the details of the new firmware for each device:

Surface Go: Microsoft rolled out the first Drivers and Firmware for the Surface Go in October. This package was later updated with the release of Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) in late November. While Microsoft has not stated, it is likely the package only handles the non-LTE version of the Surface Go.

Surface Laptop 2: Drivers and Firmware for the Surface Laptop 2 were made available in early November, a month after Microsoft debuted the device.

Surface Pro 6: Like the Surface Laptop 2, the Pro 6 was launched at the start of October and received its new Drivers and Firmware last month.

Surface Studio 2: Finally, the new Surface Studio is getting a complete set of Drivers and Firmware from Microsoft.

It is worth pointing out that general users will get these drivers automatically, so will not need to manually update. These pages with manual releases are for IT departments rolling out across multiple Surface devices.
