Microsoft Kaizala Web Preview Lands with Major Update

Microsoft has updated its Kaizala mobile communication tool for businesses and is demoing a web version of the service.

has updated its Kaizala mobile communication application. The latest update for the app introduces several new features. Included in the release is a Persistent Chat ability that saves messages over time. Also landing with the new update is a preview for Kaizala's expansion to a web version.

Kaizala is a project that was launched last year.  enterprise focused solution and provides a secure platform for business chat. Kaizala provides a platform for organizations to set up large group communication and task management. Collaboration, communication, and organizing can all be done through a mobile, without a need for a desktop hub.

The difference between Kaizala and something like Microsoft's Skype for Business is that Kaizala has some unique abilities. Firstly, it was designed specifically from the growing markets in an effort to provide a mobilizing workforce with a communication tool.

Networks and connectivity are still poor in many areas across emerging markets. Kaizala can overcome this problem as it works on a 2G network. Through this latest update, Microsoft is expanding the tool further.

Here is the update changelog:

  • “With Persistent Chat messages are saved over time, hence, even when a user joins a group at a later stage, he/she will be able to read messages that were exchanged prior to his/her joining the group.
  • Data backup and export lets users back up messages, attachments and action card data of organization groups and export it for auditing purposes, on demand.
  • Microsoft Kaizala Web (preview) gives users the ability to use Microsoft Kaizala on their web browser. Microsoft Kaizala Web is simply an extension of your phone.
  • Users can now make audio and video calls to their Microsoft Kaizala contacts.
  • Me Chat is a user's personal space where the user can save notes, messages, photos and more. Users can find their saved items quickly with Search and can forward them to whoever they want.”

Success

Microsoft says Kaizala has been a success since launch and is now used by 1,000 companies in alone. The company says it is used in both government and business environments. Since launching in India, Kaizala has expanded to 28 markets across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and South America.
