Ah, the October 2018 Update. 's newest version of the platform has been nothing short of a disaster for the company. Launched initially on October 2, version 1809 was swiftly paused and put on ice due to an issue with deleting user files.

Just last week, and after over a month on hiatus, the Windows 10 October 2018 Update was re-released. However, Microsoft is seemingly not out of the proverbial woods yet. As confirmed last week, the company is committing to transparency and quality control on Windows 10.

To highlight the fact, the company has already announced fresh issues with version 1809. Specifically, Redmond has revealed a new bug that is preventing the installation of Apple's iCloud for users running Windows 10 October 2018 Update.

Microsoft updates its page for version 1809 to identify the problem. The company says the issue stops iCloud installations by telling users there is no compatibility. Naturally, many users will already have iCloud installed on their PCs, but they are facing issue too. Microsoft says those users are facing synchronizing issues on Shared Albums:

“Apple has identified an incompatibility with iCloud for Windows (version 7.7.0.27). Users may experience issues updating or synching Shared Albums after updating to Windows 10, version 1809. Users who attempt to install iCloud for Windows (version 7.7.0.27) on Windows 10, version 1809 will see a message stating that this version of iCloud for Windows isn't supported, and the installation will fail.”

Blocked App

Microsoft says it is working with Apple to solve the problem. Fixing the problem starts with ensuring more users are not affected. To that end, the company is blocking iCloud for Windows for users who are downloading the October 2018 Update.

“We recommend that you do not attempt to manually update using the Update Now button or the Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft software download website until this issue is resolved.”
