One of the perks of owning a property like is you can do cool and/or pointless things with the game. Take , the company has decided to build its new revamped headquarters in Minecraft, just for the fun of it.

Microsoft is one of the major tech brands who have either developed new headquarters or are in the process of doing so. The company is currently overhauling its 500-acre campus in Redmond, Washington. While the work will not be complete until 2022, Microsoft has commissioned Blockworks to build a version in Minecraft.

Blockworks is a company that create custom Minecraft builds based on real-world places or buildings. The company has previously worked with the Museum of London, Warner Bros., and Disney.

Microsoft commissioned the virtual replica of its headquarters during its annual hackathon back in July. It is worth pointing out the build is only available to users with Minecraft: Edition. If you have that version, you can explore Microsoft's new base of operations.

New Headquarters

An overhaul of the company's headquarters was revealed in November last year. Running until 2022, a major redevelopment of the campus will be undertaken.  This will include revamping existing buildings and adding 18 new structures to the complex. 6.7 million square feet will be overhauled, but Microsoft has not said how much the revamp will cost.

Judging by the scope of the changes and Microsoft plans, this is a multi-billion-dollar operation. Once the redevelopment is complete, Microsoft Redmond will house 131 buildings, up from 125. It will also allow the workforce to be increased from 47,000 to 55,000 at the campus.

As for the Minecraft replica, Microsoft says it has been built in “Creative Mode”. That being the case, users can cause destruction in the world and even add their own builds.
