Microsoft to-Do Gets Planned Smart List, iOS Improvements

Microsoft To-Do has received updates across Android and iOS, improving its dark theme, ironing out bugs, and making it easier to stay organized.

Microsoft To-Do has received important updates on and iOS, bringing Planned smart list to the former and several list improvements to iPhone. The changes bump the version number up to 1.41.1.92 and 1.42, respectively.

For those who aren't familiar, brought Planned smart list to Windows a few weeks ago. To aid organization, it places all calendar scheduled tasks on a new screen and orders them by date.

It means that users who have multiple lists for different projects can get a quick overview of what needs to be done and when. They no longer have to jump between different lists to work out the order, saving time.

The feature breaks tasks down into ‘Today', ‘Tomorrow', ‘Next 5 days' and ‘Later' letting you view them in digestible chunks. It's not a huge addition, but it's definitely helpful for advanced users.

The traditionally white app has also received improvements to its dark theme. This will be a huge relief to some as the app's huge use of white colors can cause eye strain at night and use more battery.

The new additions ensure the dark elements are more consistent, displaying in search results and the widget. Consistency is very important in dark themes as otherwise, users may turn up the brightness only to be blinded by white elements.

Speaking of widgets, Microsoft has added support for multiple, so you can have one for each list or other categories. The app's default widget size is 4×3, so you can comfortably fit two on a phone screen at once.

Microsoft To-Do for iOS Improvements

On the iOS front, the changes are smaller, but still much appreciated. Firstly, users have the ability to hide or show completed tasks in the Important list. This feature isn't yet on Android, so hopefully, it's coming soon.

Microsoft has also fixed a number of bugs with this update, improving the sign-in experience and making minor UI adjustments that should slightly increase visual fidelity. You can grab the latest version of Microsoft To-Do for Android and iOS below:
