OneDrive on Windows 10 Receives File Preview Feature

Version 17.30.3.0 of OneDrive on Windows brings the ability to preview over 100 different file formats within the app.

Users running OneDrive on and are receiving an update. has rolled out version 17.30.3.0 of the service to its own platforms. The update introduces a number of new, albeit minor, changes to the app.

OneDrive is Microsoft's cloud storage competitor to Google Drive and Dropbox. It allows users to store and share content like files, documents, photos and more from a Windows 10 PC or phone.

In terms of version 17.30.3.0, the app now supports previewing of files. Users can check file contents in preview without having to open the folder. Out of the gate, the feature is well stocked with support for over 100 filetypes.

As always, Microsoft has also made some general improvements and squashed some unnamed bugs. The update is available from the Microsoft Store now.

OneDrive Popularity

Back in May, we reported on the growing popularity of OneDrive in the enterprise market. Indeed, the service is comfortably the most popular cloud storage service.

Spiceworks quizzed 544 North American and European businesses on their cloud storage and found Microsoft's had a 51% share. 6% plan to deploy OneDrive in the next sixth months. Its closest competitors are Google Drive and Dropbox, which both sit at 34%.

Apple's iCloud is the fourth at 13%, while Box, Citrix and Amazon Drive show between 3% and 6% each.
