We’ve been following the early life of Windows 10 April 2018 Update since it launched earlier this week. Available in a limited fashion, there have been several problems with the upgrade. Microsoft is today solving some of them with the first cumulative update for the April 2018 Update.
The patch is listed as KB4100375 and is specifically focused on fixing problems caused by Windows 10 April Update in Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer. Microsoft has fixes the following issues on its browsers:
- A PDF security issue on Edge has now be shored up.
- Internet Explorer has sometimes been unable to identify custom controls. Users should no longer experience this problem.
- Finally, security updates have been sent to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Kernel, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Server, Windows Cryptography, and Windows Datacenter Networking.
If you are an early adopter of Windows 10 April 2018 Update, you can get KB4100375 by heading to Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update and click on “Check for Updates”.
As mentioned, April 2018 Update has only been release in a limited way. The upgrade is available for manual download. As most people, especially causal Windows 10 users, upgrade automatically, the number actually on the latest build is small.
Microsoft will open automatic updates next Tuesday, coinciding with its Build 2018 conference. As the release happens in stages, many users will be waiting weeks or even months for the update.
Issues
That might be a good thing as the April 2018 Update has its fair share of issues. For example, the update is incorrectly notifying users of low disk space and designating letters to disks. We also reported on an issue with Chrome, where the browser crashes the whole system for no reason. This problem looks to be caused by the April 2018 Update.
Finally, other issues such as mouse and keyboard lockups are also being reported. Earlier this week we listed all of the current known problems.
