Reports: Windows 10 Spring Creators Update Reaches RTM, Set for April 10 Rollout

According to reports, the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update is just around the corner, bringing Timeline, Fluent Design upgrades, and plenty of new functionality.

Redstone 4 has reached RTM and will likely be known as the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update, say reports. According to Windows Central, the latest version was signed by on Friday, marking it as the build manufacturers will pre-load.

For users, this means the Spring Creators update is very close. Build 17133 is expected to hit the Insider Fast Ring this week, quickly followed by the Slow and Release Preview rings. In the process, enthusiasts will point out any last bugs that need fixing via a day one patch.

In the past, updates have included bugs like broken webcams, no internet access, and problematic mouse behavior. It's especially important that Microsoft gets things right this time, as an accidentally release last year left some devices bricked.

However, like previous updates, Windows Central believes it will roll out to a small subset of devices first. The publication's sources say that will happen on April 10 before it slowly appears for users across the world.

Windows 10 Spring Creators Update Features

By far the biggest change coming with the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update is Timeline. The feature pulls in recent apps from across your devices and lets you pick up from where you left off. It also stores browser history for 30 days, so you can go right back to the page you were on.

In other design news, Microsoft will be adding more Fluent Design elements across the OS, including the Taskbar, Start Menu, Calendar and more. It will also ship a redesign of several windows apps, such as Settings, Edge, and My People.

In terms of functionality, users will get a new Nearby Share option, which lets you share files with nearby PCs via Bluetooth. This will be available directly in File Explorer, making it fast and intuitive to share across devices.

If Timeline isn't enough to aid with your forgetfulness, Microsoft is also introducing new recovery options to the Lock screen. Local accounts will now be able to use security questions, as well as send a link to reset their password.

Of course, there are a ton of smaller improvements, as well as changes to Microsoft Edge. It's probably not the largest update so far, but big changes like Timeline put it above many.
