IBM and Salesforce Expand AI Partnership

IBM and Salesforce have extended their AI partnership with the promise of more apps and a powerful strategic partnership.

IBM and have announced plans to expand their AI partnership. The pair previously announced plans to integrate Big Blue's Cloud and Watson services with Salesforce's Quip and Service Cloud Einstein.

They two now have further plans to expand their offering with AI-driven recommendations for best actions. According to a press release, this will let users create bespoke customer interactions depending on data like recent calls and chat.

They have also agreed to produce more AI-powered apps, including IBM Waston Quip Live Apps. The apps will combine Salesforce's business collaboration software with IBM's AI platform, Watson.

“The success of our customers drives everything we do at Salesforce, including our strategic partnership with IBM,” Said Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. “The combination of IBM Cloud and Watson services with Salesforce Einstein and Quip will deliver even more innovation to empower companies to connect with their customers in a whole new way, leveraging the power of the cloud and AI.”

Strategic Alliance

Of course, the alliance is a strategic one as well as in software. IBM has named Salesforce as its preference for customer engagement, while Salesforce has done the same for IBM's cloud services.

Naming IBM as a Salesforce preferred cloud services provider demonstrates the power of the IBM Cloud to help companies fundamentally change the way they do business,” said Ginni CEO of IBM. “This expanded partnership builds on the combined power of Watson and Einstein to help enterprises make smarter business decisions.”

The two currently have over 4,000 joint customers, including Autodesk. The 3D software creator apparently leverages its customer data through Salesforce and uses Watson to gain AI-driven insights.
