By far the biggest change involves the 3D Builder app, which will be completely removed when the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update arrives. The application will no longer be installed by default, and Microsoft suggests that customers should use Print 3D and Paint 3D in its place.

Microsoft 3D Builder has been around for almost four years, since November 2013. Microsoft released it as a 3D printing app for Windows 8.1 and transitioned it to Windows 10. With Paint 3D, users can move their objects directly to a 3D printer. In addition, the company unveiled a patent back in November 2016 which will allow full-color 3D printing from Paint 3D.

Microsoft Paint nearing removal

In addition, Microsoft will deprecate the “Sync Your Settings” feature when the Fall Creators Update drops. In a future release, all users will use the same cloud storage system. Currently, Enterprise State Roaming users use a different cloud system than the other users.
