Windows 10 S ‘Surface Laptop’ Leaks: 13.5″ PixelSense Display, No USB-C

Recent information revealed that is going in heavy against Chromebooks with its Windows 10 Cloud OS. Just last week, we saw documents from inside the company that compare the two platforms extensively. Now, recent leaks reveal a Microsoft device that could be running it.

Twitter user WalkingCat has dropped videos, images, and some minor spec details of a new laptop coming from Microsoft. It will reportedly launch today at Microsoft's education event and will run ‘ S', which could be the retail name for Cloud.

In many ways, it's an answer to 's Pixel. It will weigh just 2.76 pounds, with a 14.47mm thickness at the back and 9.9mm at the front. With that comes a 13.5″ inch PixelSense display with 3.4 million pixels at 3:2 aspect ratio.

The will reportedly launch in four colors: cobalt blue, burgundy, graphite gold, and platinum. It also appears to have an alcantara keyboard, the premium fabric some Surface pro 4 users will be familiar with.

Four Ports?

In short, it could be the perfect device for the education market. However, it could be a hesitant purchase for some due to a lack of i/o. The renders reveal just three ports: USB, DisplayPort, and headphone jack.

That's a very minimal setup and does not include USB-C, which is quickly becoming mainstream for charging. Instead, Microsoft seems to be sticking with its proprietary Surface connector.

That's not a deal breaker, but the lack of USB, in particular, could be a problem if customers need to attach multiple devices. The mouse, at least, should work with Bluetooth, so that offsets this somewhat.

It may also have an SD card, though that's not quite clear from the images at this point. Of course, all of this could be offset by a low price, and the Surface Laptop certainly looks very premium if that's the case.

Fortunately, we don't have long to wait for more details. Microsoft should be revealing more at its event today, alongside the hardware specs. We'll have more on that when it happens, so stay tuned until then.
