Microsoft Brings Back Windows Phone Upgrade Advisor

Just days after pulling the upgrade path from Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile, the Upgrade Advisor is back in the Windows Store.

-

decided to kill off its Upgrade Advisor application for devices. However, after some outcry from users, the company has listened and restored the app. Windows Phone Upgrade Advisor is now available in the Windows Store.

The company says that Windows Insiders did not like the app being removed. If you are unfamiliar with the Update Advisor, it allows users to easily upgrade from Windows Phone 8.1 to Mobile.

Microsoft watcher Joel Rushworth revealed the app was back on Twitter. As usual, Microsoft did not announce why it was pulling the app in the first place. Windows Insider chief Dona Sarkar has previously said that the company is only going to support new insider builds.

With that in mind, perhaps the company did not think there was a need for the Update Advisor.

It is also worth noting that has been available for eligible Windows Phone devices for over a year. Most users who want to upgrade to the new build should have already done so. Of the holdouts, I guess they do not want the upgrade.

Interestingly, Windows 10 Mobile users are now moving to the Creators Update. Earlier this month, we reported that the list of devices eligible for the Creators Update is limited, or at least not finalized.

Earlier today, Microsoft released its Flow application for its own mobile platform. Launched last year as an enterprise focused IFFFT style service, Flow has already been available for iOS and Android for months.

Also today, the company rolled out its Lockdown Designer application. The app lets users customize their Windows 10 Mobile smartphones. This is achieved through the creation of lockdown xml files that can be installed onto a device.
