Microsoft Announces Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition

Minecraft Nintendo Switch edition will come to the console on May 11 with the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack and special capabilities for Switch.

April has been a busy month for so far, especially the and Pocket Editions. Today, -owned developer Mojang is showing love to another platform. The company says that from May 11, Minecraft Switch edition will be available. It arrives with some specific features.

Chief of those specific features is the Super Mario Mash-Up pack. The update was an exclusive for the Wii U version of the game, and is now coming to the newer console.

The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack will add 40 Mario themed skins, while the game as a whole will be given an enhancement to look better. Mojang released a video that showcases the pack and all of its features.

“Downloading the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack gives players 40 new Super Mario-themed skins, which transform the game's characters into familiar heroes like Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach, and even troublemakers like Bowser, Wario and all seven of Bowser's minions.”

As the Nintendo Switch is a unique gaming machine, Minecraft Nintendo Switch works differently on it. Microsoft explains “the big difference is how the game works with the various viewing and playing options the Switch offers, with its lovely palm-sized Joy-Cons and choice of TV or portable screens.”

On Switch, gamers can play online in parties of up to eight, with four able to play in a local multiplayer. This local option can also take advantage of the console's tabletop mode, with split screen across controllers.

Recent Minecraft Updates

Microsoft has made two significant announcements regarding Minecraft for Pocket and Windows 10. Earlier this week, the company released the Chinese Mythology pack for the game.

The new features in  the Chinese Mythology update is a new landscape with “Eastern” influences. Among the new features to find are ancient cities, dragons, and even giant pandas.

Gamers also get 26 new skins for gamers to enjoy. additionally, a new game texture has been added to add vivid color to building blocks. Mojang pointed out that composer Gareth Coker to create the original score for this Minecraft update.

Also this week, Microsoft also revealed that the Discovery Update will be coming to the versions this spring. The update features maps and additions for users to find. This will include new stashes with cartographer maps. The Minecraft team collaborated with community-known map creators to offer a catalogue of maps, minigames, and more for the update.
