On April 11, Microsoft will start rolling out the Windows 10 Creators Update to the public. However, users have been able to manually upgrade to the Redstone 2 since April 5th. Now, several customers have reported a number of issues and problem after upgrading.
Customers who upgraded their PCs to the Windows 10 Creators Update have posted the issues they have encountered on The Windows Club, on Reddit, and of course on the Windows Answers Forum.
So far, Microsoft has advised users that have posted their issues on the Windows Answers Forum to rollback to a previous build.
The company might already be working on fixes for the issues that users have reported so far:
- No Internet Access after upgrading
- Power Options missing in the Start Menu
- Windows encounter problems with memory management
- Realtek HD Audio (ALC1150) not working, despite reinstalling the drivers
- Mouse won’t work in lower-res fullscreen apps, restarting the PC freezes it
- Windows encounter problems with available disk space calculation
- Slideshow on Desktop Background & Parent Folder doesn’t work
- The Microsoft Edge Hub stops working, Edge doesn’t let users save or see favorites
- Some Startup shortcuts won’t work
- Windows won’t detect Bluetooth headphones
- Text won’t appear in explorer (no folder and file names) or in the old Control Panel
- All programs except “stock” apps and apps from the Microsoft Store won’t appear in the Start Menu after upgrading
- Some apps freeze and close right after they are opened
Resolving the No Internet Access issue
Concerning the problem with Internet Access, clicking on the Troubleshoot button might help out as The Windows Club reports. When users do that, the Windows Network Diagnostics Troubleshooter will open and try to fix the problems.
This solution has worked for The Windows Club, and will likely work for most of the users encountering this particular problem.
Fixing the missing Power Options problem
As for the Power Options missing from the Start Menu issue, TheWindowsClub.com suggests you take the following steps to resolve the problem:
- Type msc in Start search and hit Enter to open the Group Policy Editor
- Go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar and double-click on Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands
- Ensure that Not Configured or Disabled is selected, click Apply and exit
If you are running Windows 10 Home, then you won’t have access to the Group Policy Editor. In order to resolve this issue in Windows 10 Home, take the following steps:
- Run regedit to open the Registry Editor
- Navigate to this registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
- Check if a value named NoClose exists and if it does, its value should be 0
- Restart your computer and the Power Options should appear
Logitech Webcams problem and fix
Yesterday, we reported that the Windows 10 Creators Update is causing Logitech webcams to not work properly. This seems to be because they are not compatible with the Windows 10 Creators Update.
The Brio range of cameras is worst affected, but other series also seem to have issues. Logitech is acting quickly to catch this problem early. The company has published documentation that helps users fix this incompatibility issue.
