Microsoft Updates OneNote Online with New Draw Features

The company has yet to say what new features will fall under the Draw tab on OneNote Online, but it could score some additions from the normal desktop app.

OneNote Online users are gaining an important new feature today. has announced in an Office blog that the platform is scoring new drawing features. The features will be added to OneNote Online soon, bringing improved sketching capabilities to the web version of the service.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has not expanded on which new features will be added to the experience. We do know the new abilities will be found under the Draw tab.

If you use OneNote Online and in app form for , you will know the two are different. The web version has limited functionality, especially when it comes to drawing. For example, draw capabilities are limited to a pen and highlighter.

There are no effect filters for the browser version. We guess that the upcoming release will focus on adding some features from the app to the online version.

As well as changing the inking tools, Microsoft is also adding the Accessibility Checker to OneNote on Windows 10. Just to be clear, this is for the desktop app and not the online version.

The Accessibility Checker gives users the ability to make their notes open to anyone.

OneNote Updates

At the start of the month, Microsoft brought the Draw Graph feature to OneNote, while also tweaking the UI. It is now easy to create graphs and complete math equations directly in OneNote. Most Insiders who have used this feature have praised it, so it's a welcome addition.

As for the UI changes, Microsoft has made it easier for users to view and edit notes. This has been achieved by creating more space through reducing UI components such as context menus and the ribbon.
