Microsoft and Mojang are continuing their skin pack additions, this time cashing in on the recent Power Rangers movie. The update rolled out to console, Windows 10, and Pocket edition yesterday, and contains more than you’d expect.

As well as the classic colored power suits, Mojang has skins for a few villains. Rita Replulsa features, as well and Bulk and Skull. It goes outside of the recent movie, also introducing characters from the classic TV series.

The Return of a Classic

According to artist Mike Fielder, his early life was an inspiration.

“As a teen I remember getting out of school, grabbing a snack and settling into the cartoon line-up,” he said in a blog post. “Part of that routine was watching Power Rangers. When I found out we would be working on a Minecraft version of some of the character line-up I was pretty excited and even more so when I found out Bulk and Skull would be included since they were my favourite characters. I had a blast creating Minecraft versions of these characters. I hope everyone who uses these skins has as much fun playing them as I did creating them.”

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has taken a foray into the commercial world with skins, but it is one of biggest stand-outs. The company previously released a Fallout mash-up pack, a Mario one, and plenty of other games.

However, it’s also turned its eye to other franchises, with a Doctor Who pack and over 50 Star Wars skins.

In this case, plans for the Power Rangers skin pack was leaked on Android early. Microsoft released an early build with references to the pack, though users weren’t yet able to purchase it.

Now the skin pack is officially available, and players can pick it up for $2.99. It contains 20 skins and is available on Xbox, Playstation, iOS, and Android.
