SwiftKey has been among the most popular third-party virtual keyboards for a long time. Microsoft recently removed the last pay-walled feature from the app, making it an entirely free application.
Now, the Redmond giant has announced a new update to SwiftKey for Android, which brings keypress sounds to the application. The latest update brings four new keyboard sound profiles, while it also fixes several bugs.
To change keypress sounds users should tap or slide the hamburger icon on the left of the prediction bar, open the Typing panel and select Sound and Vibration.
In addition, Microsoft has fixed a bug which caused the brackets on Right-to-Left languages to incorrectly flip.
The four new keypress sound profiles to choose from are:
- Traditional
- Android
- Modern
- Blip
Microsoft deal and Neural Predictions
Microsoft bought SwiftKey back in February 2016 for $250 million. The acquisition proved to be profitable for the company, despite Microsoft’s own virtual keyboard aspirations like Word Flow.
A few months after purchasing SwiftKey, Microsoft introduced Neural Predictions to the Android app. Machine learning called “neural networks” learns users’ habits to understand how text is formed. You can download SwiftKey for Android here.
